How did the Soviet Union form?

The Soviet Union was officially created when Russia joined with Ukraine, Belorussia and the Transcaucasian Federation (which later became Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) in 1922. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was the full form of the Soviet Union. By 1940 the Soviet Socialist Republics consisted of: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirghiz, Latvia, Lithuania,  Moldavia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
