Who was Tojo Hideki?

Tojo Hideki (1884-1948) was the Japanese Prime Minister from 1941 until 1944. Tojo commanded the Japanese army that fought the Chinese in Manchuria in 1935. In 1938 Tojo became part of Japan’s military government. In 1940, he was made the minister of war. Two months prior to the devastating attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, Tojo became the Prime Minister of Japan. After the allied occupation of Japan, Tojo was arrested as a war criminal and was executed on the 23rd of December 1948.
